"The 2002 Ronald McDonald Charity Speedster"
This custom Slammed-Speedster
features a airbrush-pinstripe tribal flame design and has been slammed
to the ground with a different set of lower profile tires.
It also features a "one-off" prototype resin figure of Larry Wood that
was never used by Mattel for the final production run. The Larry Wood figure originally was designed
in a Santa outfit for the production Christmas Speedster, the figure
itself was cancelled and a "traditional" Santa was put in its place for
the final xmas production run.
Not to let it go to waste, we got
the figure from Mattel's Model Shop, and trimmed down the shirt a bit to differ
from the original "Santa" outfit, and put together a special custom project for
the charity auction. This Flamed Speedster raised over $3500 for the
Ronald McDonald's Children Charity Auction at the '02 HW Convention in
Irvine.
Special thank you goes to
Sue Kollins, who did an amazing job
on the hand-painted details of the resin figure along
with Bruce Schultz/Bodylines Co. for completing this one of a kind work of art!
